Our families had a wonderful time at Beaver lodge. The cottage was excellently appointed and it was obvious that the owners go the extra mile to make the stay comfortable
The cottage was great for the kids and we really appreciate the games and DVDs. The cottage never felt cramped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were a great size and the shared/family spaces were all large and cozy. We were 10 adults and 4 kids and it was very roomy and cozy at the same time.
We all agreed that we would rent that cottage again.
We had a wonderful time and this cottage was lovely for our families. Please thank the owners for us; we found the guest book but completely forgot to sign it!!
Thanks so much for letting us in early, a few girls arrived at one…I had lunch with my Aunt Rose with a friend at West Side Fish and Chips in Huntsville first . I was so nice to have such a beautiful weekend, the stars were fabulous. Glad the dock was still in, we waded in the water, (a bit chilly) used the paddleboat and burned up our paper garbage in the pit. The only thing I want to say is the screen leading out to the main deck was bent a bit. and a lot of the dishes seem to have chips in them now. We ran the dishwasher before we left so there will be clean dishes in there. We will be booking next year for sure. So glad we found this place. Thanks so much. Kathy.

Hi Amy,
All is good. Back home now and we had a good time. Beautiful cottage. Just wanted to let you know that we broke a small glass. That was the only incident. Overall we would rent it again. WiFi was very unreliable but that is something to be expected there.

Just to let you know we had a great vacation despite the weather. Looks like we missed out on some wicked weather yesterday. The cottage was perfect but the lake not so much. It was a little too weedy for our liking and I got munched on by a leech. So that is pretty much a deal breaker for Buck Lake. The one positive thing about the lake was I finally heard my loons which I’ve been waiting two years for. I was hoping it would be the one.
I also found broken glass at the bottom of the porch stairs I’m pretty sure I got it all but maybe tell your cleaners. The propane tank was pretty much full before we left so you can let the new renters know about the tank exchange.
Looking forward to next year are there any options for us besides Buck Lake?

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter and I, along with her two small children, had a wonderful stay. We broke a wine glass which I replaced with two glasses and a beer glass which I replaced with a large glass. Our stay was uneventful ie NO MICE! We were pleased. Being on our own we weren’t sure how we were going to handle this but no worries. We did experience a hail storm but otherwise the weather was great. My two year old grandson did not want to go home. He wanted to live there. So did Nana! Very relaxing and wonderful to spend 24-7 with my beautiful grandchildren. Thanks.

We had a fantastic time at the cottage with the kids and dogs having a blast. The weather was perfect and the cottage was clean and well maintained. One point to mention was that my daughter broke one glass from a set of eight. After looking in a few stores, we replaced it but unfortunately we couldn’t find an exact replacement so we found the closest one.

We just wanted to send a quick email to you letting you know about our cottage experience.
Despite the weather, we had a great time, the cottage was exactly what we expected from the pictures and the property was fantastik! The kids had lots of room to play and the sand beach was perfect!
Thank you for your help with the booking, and for coming out to the cottage when we couldn’t find the garage keys.

Our stay was very peaceful, we were able to connect as a family, that was important to us.
The cottage was well kept, you can tell it was very new. For a family of three it was a reasonable size. The view to the lake was also good
The weather impacted our enjoyment of outdoors such as the deck which would have made the experience better.
The walk down to the lake was muddy so there should be some type of stone pathway.
We would also recommend a TV on premises as well.
We would rate the cottage 3.5 out 5.

I found the Little Cabin in the Woods to be a nice, new and very clean cottage on a quiet and peaceful lake. No motorboats, no TV and no internet was just what I was looking for!
We enjoyed canoeing, swimming, fishing and watching & listening to the wildlife: loons, a heron and an otter (I think) were all on the lake late August / early September.
A good place to unwind with the family.
There’s lots to do in the area, too. It’s within an hour drive of Algonquin (where we went) and other provincial parks and hiking trails. Georgian Bay isn’t too far, either – Killbear Provincial Park is 1-3/4 hours away, Parry Sound is a few minutes closer.
The cottage is small but very well laid out, so it’s big enough for a family of five for a week if you plan to spend most of your time active outside.

I would not hesitate to pass on your name to anyone looking to rent a cottage. Northern Retreats made the rental process easy. Felt very confident that we would have a good experience. The only thing you couldn’t control was the weather. Oh well, it was disappointing but we still enjoyed the property and getting away.
